Tuesday, 22 April - Nice: Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Promenade des Anglais, dinner at Srikanesa

This was the first day I had to really explore town and was finally over jet lag. So, I headed down the main drag past the Acropolis Convention Center, where David's conference was being held. The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art is in a huge complex with the Municipal Library, Theater, sculpture garden, etc. I bought a museum pass that was good for all the Nice Municipal museums for 7 days. The Museum itself was dedicated mostly to a few artists, with one whole floor dedicated to Barry Flanagan and outside in the courtyard were some of his larger pieces, along with more of the whimsical Niki de Saint Phalle. Then, I had to check out the Mediterranean coast, and sat for a while on the pebble beach. Finally, we had dinner with the Aluru family at the Srikanesa, a restaurant with some of the best Indian (Sri Lankan) food we have tasted in a while! |
